Best of “Best Bottle I Opened Tonight”

22 Feb

Our nightly bedtime routine isn’t all that different than most: Brush, wash, moisturize, find out the best bottle of wine served on the Upper West Side.  You know….the usual.

That last little ritual comes courtesy of the Twitter feed of Sommelier Michael Madrigale of Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud in NYC. Madrigale is a Philly guy who has risen to the very top of the wine game at Daniel Boulud’s Dinex Restaurant Group.  At the end of each night’s service, Madrigale tweets the “Best Bottle I Opened Tonight” with three-line, poignant, and downright perfect tasting notes that seem a bit absurd, yet make perfect sense.  These fortune cookies of oenology have made us smarter about vino and given us some impressive adjectives to describe that $11 discounted Chairman’s Selection Chard we just grabbed from 12th and Chesnut. We have collected some of our favorite “Best Bottle I Opened Tonight”s of the first two months of the year.  Follow Madrigale on Twitter(@mikemadrigale) to see the best bottle he opened tonight. Sweet Dreams.
